CASD School Police Officers Attend the 2023 Pennsylvania School Safety Conference

During the summer months, our CASD School Police Officers do regular training to hone in their skills to protect our most precious assets, our kids.

This summer our SPOs attended the 2023 Pennsylvania School Safety Conference in our States Capital.

The conference, which is in its 5th year, is hosted by the Pennsylvania Association of School Resource Officers (PASRO), the State partner of the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO).

From July 24th, through July 26th, our officers attended training sessions that were conducted by many State and Federal agencies, and other experts in the field of School Safety.

The trainings received were in the following areas.

  • Strategies to Reach the Underserved
  • The Blue Campaign- Human Trafficking
  • National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Resources for School Resource Officers – Is this happening in my school?
  • Anti-Semitism in America
  • CATO Threat Assessment - FBI
  • PSP - Heritage Affairs
  • Safe Schools for Alex, a look into the MSD High School Massacre
  • PA DUI - Drug Trends

This year's sold out conference was attended by over 130 School Resource Officers, School Police Officers, School Safety Officers, and school administrators, from all over the commonwealth.

CASD Chief of Police, Frank Galbraith stated, “The training that PASRO provides is exceptional. The presenters and speakers are experts in their field. Everything they do is to help ensure we have the right tools in the tool box, so we can keep our schools a safe place for kids to be educated”. Chief Galbraith stated, “Safety and security should be thought of as an investment, not a cost”.

As our officers continue their training, they look forward to getting back to school at the end of summer.
