    Chief Frank J. Galbraith

    Director of School & Public Safety

    Frank is currently in his 7th year as an employee of the Coatesville Area School District and in his 27th year of law enforcement work. His professional career began in 1997 when he became a Police Officer with the Southeast Delco School District Police Department. Promoted to his first administrative role as Corporal, assisting with the supervision of the Police Department, after two years. Frank was responsible for creating and implementing the school district's emergency operations plan, working with the school district administration and school principals in building positive relationships between students and police. Prior to coming to the CASD, the Chief served in many roles including, patrol, field training officer (FTO), patrol supervisor (Corporal), member of the drug task force, and the county crisis intervention team. 

     

    Receiving police training in the States of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. A majority of Chief Galbraith’s career has been spent in school-based law enforcement. Chief Galbraith has held Police supervisory roles in K-12 and Higher Education. Chief Galbraith is a trained and certified School Resource Officer (SRO). Chief Galbraith has worked for police agencies in PA, DE, and MD and is considered an expert in his field. In his career, Chief Galbraith has been the recipient of several prestigious certificates, awards and accommodations. Some of the Chief's proudest achievements include being the recipient of the CASD Champion for Children Award; receiving the Medal of Valor; being recognized as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the National Sheriffs  Association; and most recently, being nominated as a finalist for the 2022 Campus Safety Magazine, Director of the Year award. This is a nationally recognized award where recipients are nominated by their peers.  

     

    In his current role, Chief Galbraith supervises and is responsible for the daily operations of the School District Police Department, and the Safety and Security of the district. Chief Galbraith serves on the Executive Cabinet and is an advisor to the Superintendent of Schools for School Safety and Security. Chief Galbraith serves as the District's Director of School and Public Safety and is the State-appointed Safety and Security Coordinator. Chief Galbraith has led the implementation of and serves as the school district's Safe2Say team leader. Chief Galbraith has also spearheaded the district Threat Assessment Team where he serves as an administrative member. Chief Galbraith is a member of the Chester County Chiefs of Police Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Association of School Resource Officers, the Pennsylvania Association of School Resource Officers, and the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS).

     

    Chief Galbraith values the relationships he has built and looks forward to his continued service to the students, parents, and community members of the Coatesville Area School District to foster a school culture and climate that supports every student, educator, and staff member.
