Summer Snapshots
The Griffin girls have packed plenty of fun into their summer! From the Reading Fightin Phils and Hersheypark to shopping, playing in the rain, Mr. Softee ice creams, and lots of family time, they've made some wonderful memories together.
Marlee is excited to begin 9th grade at CAIHS, while Lucy, an incoming 3rd grader at Doe Run, mastered riding a two-wheeled bike and discovered the Warrior Cats series. Julie, who will enter 2nd grade at Doe Run, also learned to ride a bike and didn't let a broken wrist stop her from writing, drawing, and enjoying her summer!
Ms. Laura will also be joining Doe Run this fall, making the new school year an exciting new beginning for the entire Griffin family.
Enjoy the final days of summer, Griffins! We can't wait to welcome you back!

Talaria Throwback Thursday
It's time to open the Talaria and take another trip back through Red Raider history!
Can you figure out the year of this week's throwback? Here are a few clues:
-The Beatles were dominating the charts with hits like “Help!” and “Yesterday.”
-The Sound of Music arrived in movie theaters and became a cultural phenomenon.
-The St. Louis Arch was completed, creating one of America's most recognizable landmarks.
-The first American spacewalk took place as the Space Race continued to capture the nation's attention.
-The Ford Mustang was quickly becoming one of the hottest cars on the road.
Now it's your turn: Who's in the photos, and what yearbook do you think they are from?

For Lilligrace and Maggie LaGarde, one opportunity to step onto the stage has grown into a shared passion for performing!
Lilligrace, who will be entering 5th grade at Doe Run Elementary School, spent part of her summer fulfilling a dream by playing Matilda in Matilda Jr. with Revival Productions and Chester County School of the Arts. It was a role she had hoped to play since first seeing the show in 2022.
Maggie, an incoming 9th grader at Coatesville Area Intermediate High School, discovered her love of theater when she first took the stage as Miss Honey in Matilda Jr. at Scott Middle School in 6th grade. Two years and several productions later, her journey came full circle in taking on her first villain role as Miss Trunchbull in the same production as Lilligrace!
Both stories are wonderful reminders of what can happen when students are given opportunities to discover what they love, step outside their comfort zones, and keep challenging themselves.
Find what lights you up, take that first step, and don't be afraid to dream big! Congratulations, Lilligrace and Maggie—keep taking the stage!

Trivia Tuesday — The Answer!
Yesterday, we asked if you knew what the Coatesville High School yearbook was called before it became The Talaria in 1938.
In true Jeopardy! style, the correct response is:
“What is Red and Black?”
The name Red and Black had roots in an early-1900s literary publication that shared information about school policies and activities. In 1938, the yearbook's editorial staff decided it was time for a new name—and The Talaria was born!
Thanks to everyone who played along with this week's Student Life edition of Trivia Tuesday!

Learning Through Play!
This week, teachers from Doe Run and King's Highway Elementary Schools met with trainers to prepare for the introduction of play-based learning in kindergarten and first grade this school year in those two schools.
Play-based learning uses purposeful play as a vehicle for learning and child development. Through active engagement, imagination, exploration, and teacher guidance, students can strengthen cognitive, social, and motor skills while developing curiosity, creativity, problem-solving skills, and a love of learning.
Our teachers enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about this new approach and explore ways to create engaging learning experiences for our youngest Red Raiders!

A little late today, but Trivia Tuesday is Here!
Today's category: Student Life
For generations of Red Raiders, Talaria has captured the people, activities, and moments that tell the story of Coatesville High School. But did you know our yearbook wasn't always called Talaria?
Today's question takes us back to 1938, when the yearbook's editorial staff decided it was time for a new name.
Think you know what it was called before The Talaria? Remember, in true Jeopardy! style, your response must be in the form of a question:
We'll reveal the answer tomorrow.

What a summer in the saddle for Aislynn!
After qualifying throughout the year at various shows and competitions, Aislynn, an 8th-grade student at Scott Middle School, traveled to Kentucky last week to compete in the USEF National Pony Finals, one of the most prestigious junior equestrian competitions in the country.
Aislynn and her horse, Stylist (Spike), represented themselves, her barn, and the Coatesville community with determination, dedication, and plenty of heart—and their hard work paid off! The pair brought home an impressive 6th-place ribbon in the Teen Jumping competition!
Congratulations, Aislynn, on this outstanding accomplishment, and a special shoutout to Spike for being such a great partner throughout the journey!

What happens when educators, childcare providers, and community partners come together? Great things for kids!
Our Succeed-By-Three Early Learning Summit brought together early learning providers from across the district to connect, collaborate, and share best practices for supporting young learners. Attendees also explored opportunities such as Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and Keystone Scholars, helping ensure families are connected to valuable resources from the start. A special thank you to AHHAH's executive director, Jan Michener, for being one of our guest speakers.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. Together, we are Building the Future for Student Success!

Operated by Union Community Care, the year-round center will serve CASD students, staff, and the entire community, providing convenient access to healthcare and connecting patients with additional health and community services.
