I hope your children enjoyed today’s snow day. However, in order to allow road crews, both district and surrounding townships, to continue the cleanup from this weekend’s storm, the Coatesville Area School District will implement a Flexible Instruction Day (FID) tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Students and families are asked to observe the FID schedules outlined below to ensure learning continues as planned.
Elementary (Grades K-5): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedules%5FElementary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1
Secondary (Grades 6-12): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedule%5FSecondary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1
If students experience Wi-Fi connectivity issues or power outages that prevent them from logging into their classes, they will be required to complete the assigned work prior to returning to school so they are not marked with an unexcused absence for the day.
The safety of our students, families, and staff remains our top priority. Please use caution if traveling and continue to monitor district communications for any additional updates.
Please be safe, and don’t forget to submit your fun snow day pictures to goodnews@casdschools.org
Sincerely,
Anthony P. Rybarczyk, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Primaria (grados K–5): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedules%5FElementary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1
Secundaria (grados 6–12): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedule%5FSecondary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1
Atentamente,
Anthony P. Rybarczyk, Ed.D.

Our families know how to do snow days right!
Did your child go sledding, build a snow fort, hit the slopes, or learn how to ice skate? We’d love to see how they enjoyed their day off!
Send your snow-day photos to goodnews@casdschools.org and help us showcase our community’s winter fun on social media.

Due to the potential for significant winter weather, the Coatesville Area School District has decided to move the School Board Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, to a virtual platform.
Members of the Board of School Directors and the administration will participate via Zoom, and the meeting will be livestreamed on the District’s official YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@CoatesvilleAreaSDTV for public viewing.
We will accept public comments via email to ensure the Board and administration continue to hear from our community. Community members may submit their comments to vboardmeeting@casdschools.org . Public comment submissions will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27.
When submitting a public comment, please indicate clearly whether your comment is for:
• First Public Comment—Agenda items only
• Second Public Comment—Any other topic a community member wishes to address
This will ensure comments are read at the appropriate time during the meeting.
Please note the following adjustments for this meeting:
• There will be no student or staff recognitions. These will be postponed until the regular February School Board meeting.
• The High School Student Representatives’ report and the Superintendent’s Monthly Report will be included in the Raider Review, which will be posted the day following the meeting.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate what may be one of the most significant snowstorms our region has experienced in quite some time. Please remain safe and continue to monitor district communications for any updates regarding school closures or schedule adjustments in the coming days.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support.
Sincerely,
Anthony P. Rybarczyk, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Coatesville district is closing 2 elementary schools, opening a new one, and realigning boundaries

Dear Coatesville Area School District Families and Community,
I am extremely proud and honored to share some exciting news about remarkable progress happening in the Coatesville Area School District. Last week, four CASD schools were officially exited from their federal school improvement designations. The Pennsylvania Department of Education rarely removes this many schools at once, which makes this a significant and uncommon achievement for our district and our community.
Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), states identify schools in need of additional support through Annual Meaningful Differentiation. Schools may receive one of the following designations:
• Comprehensive Support & Improvement (CSI): for schools facing the most significant academic challenges
• Additional Targeted Support & Improvement (ATSI): for schools where specific student groups perform at levels comparable to CSI schools
• Targeted Support & Improvement (TSI): for schools where particular student groups are not meeting state expectations
Scott Middle School and North Brandywine Middle School were previously designated as CSI schools, while Caln Elementary and East Fallowfield Elementary held ATSI designations. These designations are not labels of failure—rather, they provide schools with additional resources, collaboration, and evidence-based supports to accelerate growth.
In response to these designations, each school undertook a focused improvement process supported by our entire community. School leaders, teachers, support staff, families, community partners, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education collaborated to design and carry out targeted plans that strengthened our schools.
This progress reflects the effort of our students, the dedication of our staff, the leadership of our administrators, and the ongoing support of our families and community. Together, we are expanding upon high-quality learning opportunities for every Coatesville student.
As we celebrate this milestone, we also recognize that our work continues. We remain committed to sustaining this momentum so that all CASD schools grow, thrive, and provide exceptional environments where students can reach their fullest potential.
Thank you for your partnership and for being an essential part of the Coatesville Area School District community. Together, we are “Building the Future for Student Success.”
Sincerely,
Anthony P. Rybarczyk, Ed. D.
