Talaria Throwback Thursday

This week’s Throwback Thursday takes us back to a time when moviegoers were quoting “May the Force be with you,” people were learning the “Magic” of Olivia Newton-John, arcades were packed with Pac-Man fans, and everyone wanted a Rubik’s Cube.

Take a look at this week’s Talaria yearbook photos and see if you recognize any familiar faces from this unforgettable era in Coatesville history.

-Who do you recognize?
-What memories come rushing back when you think of this time period?

Making the right school choice for your child is important, and the Coatesville Area School District is dedicated to “Building the Future for Student Success” right from the very start.

Students in smaller classes have more opportunities for individual attention, the ability to build stronger relationships with teachers, and a chance to engage more meaningfully in the classroom.

With an average class size of only 20 students in kindergarten, our youngest learners can be part of a supportive learning environment where children feel seen, valued, and inspired to grow every day.

CHOOSE COATESVILLE and give your child a strong start in a community built on learning, support, opportunity, and pride.

Exploring Coatesville’s History

Students in the Historic Research and Preservation classes at Coatesville Area Senior High School recently participated in a Historic Walking Tour of Coatesville led by Lisa Doan-Harley.

During the tour, students visited historic buildings and landmarks throughout the city before making their way to the National Iron and Steel Heritage Museum to learn about the impact of Lukens Steel on both the Coatesville community and the nation. Students also had the opportunity to see the World Trade Center steel and explore the historic Lukens Steel Mill buildings.

A meaningful hands-on learning experience connecting our students to the rich history of Coatesville.

At CASD, we are aware that a local cyber charter school is trying to capitalize on the fact that our Cyber Academy is changing. So, to set the record straight for our families -- the Coatesville Cyber Academy is NOT closing. We are simply transitioning to a new hosting platform through an exciting partnership with Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA) and the Chester County Intermediate Unit.

Students enrolled in the program will remain part of the Coatesville Area School District family and will graduate with a CASD-issued diploma. Students will also continue to have the opportunity to participate in district athletics, clubs, and extracurricular activities.

Coatesville Area Intermediate High School hosted its second annual talent show during the school day, led by Miss McLorie and Mr. Waterkotte.

What made this year’s show especially memorable was that every act featured live music with students accompanying one another on stage. From musical performances to teamwork and school spirit, students created an incredible show that highlighted the many talents within CAIHS. A huge success!

Learning History Through Experience

Students from the Historic Research and Preservation Course at Coatesville Area Senior High School recently traveled to National September 11 Memorial & Museum to deepen their understanding of the events of September 11, 2001.

The visit also highlighted Coatesville’s connection to history, as steel from the former Lukens Steel Mill was used in the foundation of the Twin Towers. Students will continue that learning experience later this month with a visit to the National Iron and Steel Heritage Museum to see the steel tridents returned to Coatesville in 2010.

Thank you to The Parkesburg Point and Dwayne Walton for helping support this meaningful opportunity for our students.

A Colorful Addition at Rainbow

Last week, the Rainbow Garden Club spent time painting rocks, and once they were dry, students in Miss Adamski’s 2nd grade class and Dr. Chrisman’s kindergarten classes worked together to turn them into a beautiful rainbow display at the front of the school.

The colorful creation is a wonderful example of teamwork, creativity, and school pride. Isn’t it beautiful?
