Chromebook FAQs for Parents
What should I do if my child's Chromebook isn't working or is broken?
If your student's Chromebook is not working, please have your student bring the Chromebook to the building IT support for help to exchange the Chromebook. Additionally, most teachers have classroom loaner Chromebooks available.

Is device insurance available?
School-issued devices are an important tool for learning, and while we strive to take great care of them, accidents can happen. Device insurance provides peace of mind and financial protection by covering repair or replacement costs due to unforeseen circumstances. The district is no longer implementing a TIF(technology insurance fee) payable to the district but you may purchase insurance on our own.
What computer insurance covers:
A stand-alone computer insurance policy through Progressive includes coverage for perils (laptop theft, vandalism, fire damage, and more) and unexpected accidents such as:
Water damage (including liquid spills and submersion)
Damage from dropping or stepping on your laptop
Power surges due to lightning
Laptop insurance doesn't cover everything. Some exclusions are:
Computer viruses
Wear and tear or corrosion
Software issues
Blatant neglect
All policies and claims are the sole ownership of the Parents and Guardians.
My child has intentionally damaged a district device. What do I do now?
Please report the damage to the building principal. This is a violation of the code of conduct. Chromebook issues to students are property of the school district and should be treated as such, Families are financially responsible for intentional damage to district devices. In some cases, this can be over $300. Payments, even partial, can be made online at Revtrak
Our Chromebook charger isn't working anymore. What should we do?
The district will replace faulty or broken chargers only when the broken chargers are turned in. Please bring the broken charger to your building technology support and IT can exchange them. If the charger is intentionally broken, the family would need to replace them at their own cost.
We lost the charger for the Chromebook. What should we do?
The district cannot replace lost chargers, but replacements are available on Amazon.
