The Coatesville Area School District is partnering with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission to help improve safety along Lincoln Highway as part of the Regional Vision Zero: Lincoln Highway initiative, which aims to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries.

The study will include community outreach, safety audits, and traffic analysis to develop recommendations that enhance safety, mobility, and quality of life for all.

State Senator Carolyn T. Comitta and the Maternal and Child Health Consortium are hosting a Community Baby Shower on Friday, May 8th from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Gordon Early Literacy Center in Coatesville. This event is an opportunity for parents to connect with local resources and find support in navigating parenthood. For kids, this event will have fun activities and games for them to enjoy. The Community Baby Shower will be filled with joy, raffles, and resources.

A Meaningful Evening at East Fallowfield

Last night’s Legacy Walk at East Fallowfield Elementary School was a truly special opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the life of the school.

Those who attended shared how much it meant to walk the hallways again, revisit classrooms, look through old photos, and reconnect with treasured memorabilia. It was a night filled with conversations, laughter, and memories as friends reunited and stories were shared.

Guests were also treated to two wonderful performances by our Meistersingers, adding a memorable and meaningful musical touch to the evening.

Generations of students, staff, and families returned to say goodbye and honor the lasting impact East Fallowfield Elementary has had on so many lives. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this memorable evening.

Supporting the Next Generation of Educators

Each fall and spring, the Coatesville Area School District is proud to welcome student teachers into our classrooms as they prepare for careers in education.

At a recent luncheon honoring our student teachers and their mentor teachers, it was inspiring to hear their reflections on classroom experiences, their work with our students, and their plans for the future.

We wish these future educators the very best—and hope to see many of them return to Coatesville as full-time teachers, working with our great students.

Rising Leaders at Scott Middle School

The Rising Leader program at Scott Middle School celebrates students who consistently demonstrate a commitment to excellence. Each month, teachers nominate students who show up every day and do the right thing, recognizing them during a special ceremony where they receive certificates and hear from guest speakers.

In March, Dan Williams shared a powerful message about leadership, integrity, and hard work—leaving a lasting impression on our students.

In April, Eugenia Roberts spoke about leadership, service, perseverance, and the importance of chasing your dreams.

We are proud of our Rising Leaders and the positive impact they continue to make within our school community.

Golden Gala Junior Prom

Juniors at Coatesville Area Senior High School (CASH) celebrated in style Saturday night at their Golden Gala Junior Prom!

With great music keeping the energy high, students filled the dance floor, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and dinner, captured fun moments in the photo booth, and spent the evening making memories with friends.

A great night as our juniors begin to wrap up the year and look ahead to their senior year!

We hope to see you there to share some memories, to meet up with old friends, and to have a chance to say goodbye to a building that has been like a second home to so many students, families, and staff.

The Coatesville Area School District was proud to participate in the @GIANT Feeding School Kids campaign! From January 1 – March 31, customers could round up at the register to support our district’s efforts to eliminate childhood hunger.

Through this campaign, CASD can use funds to:
-Support school meal programs through the purchase of new equipment
-Expand food distribution programs
-Create on-campus food pantries and gardens
-Provide additional weekend meals
-Eliminate outstanding student meal debt

On Wednesday, Erin Robinson, our Supervisor of Food Services, met with Joe Buczkowski from Giant to receive a check from this incredible program.

Thank you to all who rounded up at the register--together, we are ensuring students have access to the nutrition they need to learn and grow.

History Comes to Life at CASH

Students at Coatesville Area Senior High School CASH had a unique opportunity to connect with American history as part of the America 250 Commemoration.

Rescheduled because of weather earlier in the year, the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust delivered a recently unearthed and preserved Revolutionary War cannon, originally cast at Warwick Furnace in 1776. This remarkable piece of history, weighing over 4,500 pounds, is believed to have been buried during the British advance on Philadelphia in 1777 to keep it from enemy hands.

Students learned about the cannon’s significance through an engaging presentation by volunteer Penny Hurst. The cannon was once present when George Washington’s Continental Army encamped at Warwick Furnace following the Battle of the Brandywine and the Battle of the Clouds.

As one of the earliest cannons commissioned in the United States, this artifact gave students a powerful, hands-on connection to our nation’s founding. They had the opportunity to ask questions, learn firsthand, and even take photos with this incredible piece of history.

An unforgettable experience bringing the past into the present.

Real-World Science in Action

Twenty-six Environmental Science students from Coatesville Area Senior High School (CASH) recently visited the Stroud Water Research Center, which hosted them at Hibernia Park for hands-on water quality field experiences.

Students conducted water chemistry testing, measuring dissolved oxygen, nitrate levels, and pH, and also collected aquatic macroinvertebrates--organisms that help indicate stream health. By identifying these species, students were able to assess the condition of the water.

Based on the data collected, students determined that the West Branch of the Brandywine Creek flowing through Hibernia Park is in excellent condition.

An incredible opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world environmental science!

Celebrating Student Voices at the Rotary Speech Contest

A huge thank-you to all of the CASH students who participated in the Annual Coatesville Rotary Speech Contest. Each participant did an outstanding job and should be proud of their efforts.

Both the Interact Club and the Coatesville Rotary wish our students continued success moving forward.

CASH Students Shine at National History Day Competition

Students from Coatesville Area Senior High School (CASH) earned top honors at the Region 10 National History Day Competition. Competing against students from Delaware and Chester counties, our students showcased their research and creativity as part of Mr. Tassoni’s Historic Research and Preservation course.

This year’s theme, “Revolution, Reform, and Reaction in History,” inspired outstanding projects across multiple categories:

Isabella Eveland (Senior) – 1st Place, Individual Exhibit (Federal Food and Drug Regulation)
Brandon Berger (Junior) – 2nd Place, Individual Exhibit (The Pueblo Revolt: A Precolonial Revolution)
Luke Burkhardt (Freshman) – 2nd Place, Website (William Penn’s Holy Experiment)
Harlow Stover, Harley Hill, Angela Keeshan (Freshmen) – 3rd Place, Group Exhibit (The Haitian Revolution)
Kenley Crane, Keeret Badh, Kaylin Johnson – 3rd Place, Documentary (Beneath the Wall: Tunnel 29)

All of these students will advance to the state competition in Scranton on April 25.

Caln Elementary Legacy Walk Reminder

The Caln Elementary Legacy Walk is coming up next week, and we are still collecting artifacts and memorabilia to help celebrate the school’s history.

If you have items such as old programs, flyers, newspaper articles, spirit wear, or student work, they can be dropped off at the school. All artifacts and memorabilia should be submitted by this Wednesday, April 15.
