MARCH 2026 SCHOOL BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS RAIDER REVIEW
Dear CASD Families, Staff, and Community Members,
On Tuesday, March 24, the Coatesville Area School District Board of School Directors met for the monthly board meeting. The evening featured thoughtful discussion, recognitions, and important updates, and we are pleased to share several key takeaways centered on student success.
Celebrating Excellence in CASD
CASD celebrated the strength and contributions of women throughout our schools and community in March.
Matthew Handerhan, art teacher at Scott Middle School, was named a 2026 Citadel Heart of Learning Award grand prize winner, selected from more than 4,000 nominees across the region.
The Coatesville Raiderbots demonstrated outstanding dedication this season, with two of the high school teams qualifying for the PA State Championship, placing them among just 40 teams statewide.
Our varsity boys’ basketball team represented Coatesville with pride during postseason competition, showcasing determination, teamwork, and Raider spirit throughout their playoff run.
Sarah McGann and Iain O’Toole competed in the PIAA State Swimming Championships at Bucknell University. Sarah qualified in the 200 and 500 Freestyle, and Iain in the 100 Backstroke.
Students at the Intermediate High School impressed audiences with their production of The Wizard of Oz, with daytime shows for elementary students and evening performances highlighting a talented, double-cast group.
North Brandywine Middle School students brought Disney’s Frozen Jr. to life with three performances, showcasing months of preparation and a highly collaborative, student-driven production.
Investing in the Future of Learning
The district is preparing for this week’s Kindergarten Carnival for incoming kindergarten students—the Class of 2039—introducing families to our programs and available supports.
Schools celebrated Read Across America with mystery readers, character visits, and activities that encouraged a love of reading.
Eighth grade students from North Brandywine and Scott Middle Schools gained hands-on experience in real-world budgeting at Finance Park, created by Junior Achievement of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Connecting with Our Community
The district is preparing to host Legacy Walks for Caln and East Fallowfield Elementary Schools and is seeking to borrow artifacts and memorabilia from former students, families, and staff to help celebrate each school’s history. East Fallowfield Legacy Walk is on Wednesday, April 22, and the Caln Legacy Walk is on Wednesday, April 29.
We look forward to connecting with community members at the upcoming Community Connections Work Session on Thursday, March 26, at the Brandywine Center.
After five months of collaboration, CASD shared its three-year Comprehensive Plan with the community, featuring updated Mission and Vision Statements and Core Beliefs as well as four SMART goals to guide the district through June 2029.

El martes 24 de marzo, la Junta de Directores Escolares del Distrito Escolar del Área de Coatesville celebró su reunión mensual. La velada incluyó discusiones reflexivas, reconocimientos e importantes actualizaciones, y nos complace compartir varios puntos clave centrados en el éxito estudiantil.

CASD celebró la fortaleza y las contribuciones de las mujeres en nuestras escuelas y comunidad durante el mes de marzo.

Conectando con Nuestra Comunidad
