Dear CASD Families, Staff, and Community Members,
On Tuesday, February 24, the Coatesville Area School District Board of School Directors met for the monthly board meeting. The evening featured thoughtful discussion and forward-thinking initiatives, and we are pleased to share the important takeaways centered on student success.
Celebrating Excellence in CASD
The district celebrated our school counselors during National School Counselor week (February 2-6) to acknowledge their incredible work and to recognize the compassion, guidance, and encouragement they provide every single day.
CASD honored the dedication of our School Resource Officers and School Police who work every day to keep our students, staff, and schools safe. Beyond security, they build meaningful relationships, provide guidance, and serve as trusted adults within our buildings.
On Wednesday, February 11, we celebrated our second Signing Day of the year as senior student-athletes officially committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
The Intermediate High School welcomed the arrival of two new administrators as assistant principals – Kristin Kotler, who is new to the district, and Pete Altland, who transferred from Scott Middle School.
Scott Middle School welcomed Dr. Cynthia Roulhac as the new assistant principal.
Our varsity boys basketball team have continued to win and will compete in the PIAA 6A District Championship Game at Saint Joseph’s University on Sunday, March 1, at 3:00.
Investing in the Future of Learning
The students in our elementary schools had a blast celebrating the 100th day of school except Rainbow Elementary, who celebrate the 101st day of school and dressing up as famously spotted canines.
Coatesville’s Raiderbots were proud to host the Eastern Pennsylvania Qualifier at CASH.
This exciting two-day event brought robotics teams from across the eastern half of the state to compete, collaborate, and showcase their innovation. Two of our teams will compete in the state qualifier.
The district presented its annual STEM Showcase on Saturday, February 21, the event featured science and engineering projects created by elementary and secondary students in grades 3–12. Students presented their work to scientists, engineers, and educators, and some projects will advance to the Chester County Science Research Competition in March.
Connecting with Our Community
The Black History Month Celebration at the Coatesville Area Intermediate High School was a tremendous success. Celebrating 100 years of black history recognition, the event brought together students, families, and community members for an evening of learning, culture, and connection.
On February 18, the district wished all who celebrate Ramadan a month of peace, reflection, and blessings.
Mother Nature once again prevented the district from hosting its Community Connections Work Session, but the district was able to reschedule the event to Thursday, March 26, at the Brandywine Center located at 744 E. Lincoln Highway.
The Comprehensive School Planning committee wrapped up their work on our district’s plan for the next three years. The next step will be sharing it with the public for review.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and virtually for the meeting. Your engagement, insight, questions, and support are vital to the continued improvement of our district and the success of our students.

ASPECTOS DESTACADOS DE LA REUNIÓN DE LA JUNTA ESCOLAR

Estimadas familias, personal y miembros de la comunidad de CASD:
El martes 24 de febrero, la Junta Directiva del Distrito Escolar del Área de Coatesville celebró su reunión mensual. La velada incluyó reflexiones significativas e iniciativas con visión de futuro, y nos complace compartir los puntos más importantes centrados en el éxito estudiantil.
Celebrando la excelencia en CASD
El distrito celebró a nuestros consejeros escolares durante la Semana Nacional del Consejero Escolar (2–6 de febrero) para reconocer su increíble labor y la compasión, orientación y apoyo que brindan cada día.
CASD reconoció la dedicación de nuestros Oficiales de Recursos Escolares y de la Policía Escolar, quienes trabajan diariamente para mantener seguros a nuestros estudiantes, personal y escuelas. Más allá de la seguridad, construyen relaciones significativas, brindan orientación y son adultos de confianza dentro de nuestros edificios.
El miércoles 11 de febrero celebramos nuestro segundo Día de Firma del año, cuando estudiantes atletas de último año se comprometieron oficialmente a continuar sus carreras académicas y deportivas a nivel universitario.
La Escuela Intermedia Superior dio la bienvenida a dos nuevos administradores como subdirectores: Kristin Kotler, nueva en el distrito, y Pete Altland, quien se transfirió desde la Escuela Intermedia Scott.

Nuestro equipo varsity de baloncesto masculino continúa ganando y competirá en el Juego de Campeonato del Distrito PIAA 6A en Saint Joseph’s University el domingo 1 de marzo a las 3:00 p. m.
Invirtiendo en el futuro del aprendizaje
Los estudiantes de nuestras escuelas primarias se divirtieron celebrando el día 100 de clases, con la excepción de Rainbow Elementary, que celebra el día 101 de clases vistiéndose como caninos famosos con manchas.
Los Raiderbots de Coatesville se enorgullecieron de ser anfitriones del Clasificatorio del Este de Pensilvania en CASH.
Este emocionante evento de dos días reunió a equipos de robótica de toda la mitad oriental del estado para competir, colaborar y mostrar su innovación. Dos de nuestros equipos competirán en el clasificatorio estatal.
El distrito presentó su Exhibición Anual de STEM el sábado 21 de febrero. El evento incluyó proyectos de ciencias e ingeniería creados por estudiantes de primaria y secundaria en los grados 3–12. Los estudiantes presentaron su trabajo ante científicos, ingenieros y educadores, y algunos proyectos avanzarán a la Competencia de Investigación Científica del Condado de Chester en marzo.
Conectándonos con nuestra comunidad
La Celebración del Mes de la Historia Afroamericana en la Escuela Intermedia Superior del Área de Coatesville fue un gran éxito. Celebrando 100 años de reconocimiento de la historia afroamericana, el evento reunió a estudiantes, familias y miembros de la comunidad para una noche de aprendizaje, cultura y conexión.
El 18 de febrero, el distrito deseó a todos los que celebran el Ramadán un mes de paz, reflexión y bendiciones.
La Madre Naturaleza una vez más impidió que el distrito celebrara su Sesión de Trabajo de Conexiones Comunitarias, pero el evento fue reprogramado para el jueves 26 de marzo en el Brandywine Center, ubicado en 744 E. Lincoln Highway.
El comité de Planificación Escolar Integral concluyó su trabajo en el plan del distrito para los próximos tres años. El siguiente paso será compartirlo con el público para su revisión.
