Hi! My name is Kathleen Elicker. I am thrilled to be teaching 5^th grade. I am a wife and mother as well as an educator.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a concentration in mathematics from West Chester University. I also have a Master’s Degree in Education from WCU. I have taught 1^st grade, 3^rd grade, 4^th grade, and I’ve been teaching 5^th grade at Rainbow since 2003. I am also the teacher liaison on the PTO board and I run the Rainbow Reps. As a Union Rep, I am heavily involved in CATA. Finally, I am a member of the Curriculum Committee for the district.

As a teacher, I have an open-door policy. You may come and visit whenever you’d like. (Please understand that the students are my main priority, so individual conferences about your child will need to be scheduled by appointments). I also use the Responsive Classroom Approach to Teaching and Learning. I believe we are a community of learners. We learn from each other and from experiences and guided discovery. My job is to make your child the best 5^th grader, ready for middle school student they can be. This includes making the students accountable and responsible for their education. They will conduct progress meetings. They will be responsible for all homework, deadlines, and assignments. I believe having students use rigor and grit will help them succeed in life.

My family is my main priority. We love to spend time together doing anything from sports to just hanging out! My husband and I met shortly after college and have been together ever since. We have three incredible children. Carlie, our oldest graduated from Kutztown University in 2014, and works as the Assistant Director of the Hill Fund at the Hill School, in Pottstown. Our son, Luke and our youngest, Kathleen are both in college now. Luke is attending Temple University and studying Sports Management, Advertising, and Marketing. Kathleen is attending Kutztown University and studying Communications, Public Relations, and Professional Writing. Both of our “little guys” will be graduating in May of 2019. My parents are also a priority. My mother is living with Alzheimer’s Disease and lives in a memory care facility in Lancaster. I spend almost every Saturday and Sunday visiting with her.

The final members of our family are our two dogs. Kona is a Springer Spaniel/Border Collie mix. Sage is a full bred Springer Spaniel. They are sisters, literally. They have the same father, but different mothers. They love the dog park in Downingtown, the beach and rawhide chews!
