The CASD Cyber Academy is located in the City of Coatesville, in the Carl Benner Building. The CASD Cyber Academy supports the Coatesville Area School District mission of providing educational excellence and preparing students with the skills necessary to become lifelong learners and responsible members of society through an alternative educational experience within a non-traditional learning environment. Our program is designed to assist students in achieving success in an education environment through the APEX education software system. We believe that ALL students can and want to learn; however, factors beyond the students control may interfere with the learning process.
Our program is designed to assist students in achieving success in an educational environment through the Apex educational digital curriculum. This research based curriculum has targeted scaffolding to provide a more engaging, "active learning" environment that delivers measurable results. We are excited to provide this educational option, which is ideal for students who want to work at their own pace, take extra classes, earn Advanced Placement credits, graduate early, are homebound or need a flexible schedule.
Students complete comprehensive on-line courses in a flexible, self-directed manner and are supported by highly qualified teachers. One to one instruction is the approach we take so that our highly qualified teachers are working one to one with each student for all instruction. Teachers communicate with students through e-mail, phone, web chat and are available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM; however, the digital curriculum is available 24 hours a day and 7 days per week.
Apex also offers tutorials that have focused instruction and offers practice, review and assessment to build the required knowledge and skills. Each content module focuses on a specific set of learning objectives aligned to the standards. The innovative structure of tutorials - Learn It, Try It, Review It, Test It - provides an instructional approach to building knowledge, developing critical thinking skills and deepens understanding.
Students can work on-site or off-site. If the off-site option is chosen, students work from home and have all resources available for support. If students chose to work on-site, they are provided with a small learning environment with self-contained classrooms and available staff to enhance the learning process. All students who complete their coursework in the program and graduation requirements will receive a diploma from the Coatesville Area Senior High School and participate in the commencement ceremonies offered by the district.
