Exciting News for Coatesville!

A new school-based community health center—the first of its kind in Chester County—is coming to Coatesville Area Senior High School!

Operated by Union Community Care, the year-round center will serve CASD students, staff, and the entire community, providing convenient access to healthcare and connecting patients with additional health and community services. The partnership was made possible through $100,000 in state funding secured by Senator Carolyn Comitta.

We are excited about the possibilities this partnership will bring to our students, families, and greater Coatesville community.

Ms. Fichter’s class had a fun and engaging science experience while experimenting with fizzy dinosaur eggs! Students explored a simple chemical reaction by combining baking soda and vinegar, which caused their “eggs” to fizz and bubble. As the reaction took place, they watched their dinosaurs hatch, making for an exciting hands-on learning activity.

Our 5th grade students recently enjoyed an exciting field trip to a Pennsylvania Colonial Farmstead, where they stepped back in time to experience daily life during the colonial era. Students learned about the important chores children their age would have completed, including caring for farm animals and making candles. One of the highlights of the trip was the opportunity for each student to create their own candle, giving them a hands-on connection to history. This engaging experience not only brought the past to life but also supported Pennsylvania social studies standards by deepening students’ understanding of early American life.

Dear Coatesville Area School District Families,

I hope your children enjoyed today’s snow day. However, in order to allow road crews, both district and surrounding townships, to continue the cleanup from this weekend’s storm, the Coatesville Area School District will implement a Flexible Instruction Day (FID) tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Students and families are asked to observe the FID schedules outlined below to ensure learning continues as planned.

Elementary (Grades K-5): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedules%5FElementary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1

Secondary (Grades 6-12): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedule%5FSecondary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1

If students experience Wi-Fi connectivity issues or power outages that prevent them from logging into their classes, they will be required to complete the assigned work prior to returning to school so they are not marked with an unexcused absence for the day.

The safety of our students, families, and staff remains our top priority. Please use caution if traveling and continue to monitor district communications for any additional updates.

Please be safe, and don’t forget to submit your fun snow day pictures to goodnews@casdschools.org

Sincerely,
Anthony P. Rybarczyk, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Primaria (grados K–5): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedules%5FElementary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1

Secundaria (grados 6–12): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedule%5FSecondary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1

Atentamente,
Anthony P. Rybarczyk, Ed.D.

Mrs. Swisher’s first-grade class at King’s Highway was excited to welcome a special guest reader, Mrs. Crane, a retired Coatesville teacher. She shared the story The Legend of the Poinsettia, which explains the poinsettia’s origins in Mexico and its name in honor of Dr. Joel Poinsett highlighting its cultural importance. Inspired by the story, students showcased their creativity by painting their own beautiful poinsettias.
