The Coatesville Area School District is proud to recognize and celebrate National Arts in Education Week, September 13–19! This week, we recognize the creativity of our students and the dedication of our arts educators while celebrating the important role that visual arts, music, theatre, dance, and media arts play in education.
Through the arts, students develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and confidence—skills that help them succeed in the classroom and beyond. Every Student, Every Community.

Today, across our country, solemn and reverent ceremonies are being held to honor and remember those who were lost and those families, friends, and colleagues who were impacted 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.
This morning, our AFJROTC held a flag-raising ceremony and led an announcement commemorating that day and reflecting on its lasting significance.
Throughout the day, remembrance will continue across our schools and classrooms as students learn about the events of September 11 and honor the lives lost, the courage shown, and the many acts of service and sacrifice that followed.

Summer Snapshots
The stage was set for a great summer for Addie!
Addie, who will be entering 3rd grade at Doe Run Elementary School, spent four weeks at theater camp at Uptown!, where she worked hard learning lines, songs, and choreography before taking the stage as Hei Hei in a production of Moana Jr.!
Through theater, Addie has been able to explore something she truly enjoys while building her confidence, learning to work as part of a team, and discovering what she can accomplish when she steps into the spotlight.
Way to go, Addie! We can't wait to see where your next adventure takes you!
Want your student featured in a future Summer Snapshot? Send their photo, name, grade, school, and a brief description of their summer adventure to goodnews@casdschools.org.

Exciting News for Coatesville!
A new school-based community health center—the first of its kind in Chester County—is coming to Coatesville Area Senior High School!
Operated by Union Community Care, the year-round center will serve CASD students, staff, and the entire community, providing convenient access to healthcare and connecting patients with additional health and community services. The partnership was made possible through $100,000 in state funding secured by Senator Carolyn Comitta.
We are excited about the possibilities this partnership will bring to our students, families, and greater Coatesville community.

At CASD, we are aware that a local cyber charter school is trying to capitalize on the fact that our Cyber Academy is changing. So, to set the record straight for our families -- the Coatesville Cyber Academy is NOT closing. We are simply transitioning to a new hosting platform through an exciting partnership with Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA) and the Chester County Intermediate Unit.
Students enrolled in the program will remain part of the Coatesville Area School District family and will graduate with a CASD-issued diploma. Students will also continue to have the opportunity to participate in district athletics, clubs, and extracurricular activities.
Want to learn more about BVA? Join their online open house on Wednesday, May 13, from 6:00–7:00 PM. Visit bva.cciu.org to go to their website or log in at www.cciu.org/coatesville-cyber to attend the open house next week and learn more about the program, curriculum, student supports, and technology offerings.

Dear Coatesville Area School District Families,
I hope your children enjoyed today’s snow day. However, in order to allow road crews, both district and surrounding townships, to continue the cleanup from this weekend’s storm, the Coatesville Area School District will implement a Flexible Instruction Day (FID) tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Students and families are asked to observe the FID schedules outlined below to ensure learning continues as planned.
Elementary (Grades K-5): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedules%5FElementary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1
Secondary (Grades 6-12): https://coatesvillesd-my.sharepoint.com/personal/davisb_casdschools_org/_layouts/15/onedrive.aspx?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments%2FCASD%20FID%20Expectations%20and%20Schedule%5FSecondary%2Epdf&parent=%2Fpersonal%2Fdavisb%5Fcasdschools%5Forg%2FDocuments&ga=1
If students experience Wi-Fi connectivity issues or power outages that prevent them from logging into their classes, they will be required to complete the assigned work prior to returning to school so they are not marked with an unexcused absence for the day.
The safety of our students, families, and staff remains our top priority. Please use caution if traveling and continue to monitor district communications for any additional updates.
Please be safe, and don’t forget to submit your fun snow day pictures to goodnews@casdschools.org
Sincerely,
Anthony P. Rybarczyk, Ed.D.
