CASH Students Help Restore Forest Habitation Earth Day
This Earth Day, current and former Coatesville High School environmental science students rolled up their sleeves to make a lasting impact on the planet. They joined forces with Natural Lands at Sadsbury Woods Preserve to restore vital forest habitat by planting native trees and shrubs.
With shovels in hand—some for the first time—students put their learning into action after a brief tutorial on tree planting. Over the course of the day, they planted 75 native trees and shrubs, including Pawpaw trees, which produce the largest edible fruit native to North America. In just 4–6 years, these trees will begin to bear fruit, and we invite you to come back and sample the sweet, tropical, mango-banana-citrusy rewards of their hard work!
Throughout the event, students deepened their understanding of the ecological importance of native plants. They learned how native forests support cleaner air and water, increase biodiversity, and create healthier ecosystems for wildlife and people alike.
We are grateful to Natural Lands for hosting the event and sharing their knowledge about forest restoration. A special thanks to RES for generously donating the trees and shrubs that made this meaningful day possible.
CASH STUDENTS REGISTER TO VOTE
This past week, the Social Studies Department, the Youth Advisory Council, and the New PA Project teamed up to host a voter registration drive at Coatesville Area Senior High School!
We’re proud to share that over 40 students registered to vote, and more than 700 students pledged to register when they turn 18. This incredible participation demonstrates the strength of student civic engagement at CASH!
Thanks to these efforts, our school will qualify for the Governor’s Civic Engagement Award this spring — a statewide recognition of our commitment to active citizenship and democracy.
CASH STUDENTS RETURN FROM INTERNATIONAL TRIPS
German Trip Recap
Our German students had the opportunity to travel to Europe this month. They spent 10 days traveling through 5 different European countries. They started in Germany where they traveled along the Romantic Road and then hiked to see Neuschwanstein, the fairytale inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland. The students then took a more serious look at German history with their visit to Munich and the Concentration Camp of Dachau. From Munich, the students made their way through Austria into Italy. It was quite the experience to eat breakfast in Germany, lunch in Austria, and dinner in Italy. These students found themselves amongst the maze of canals in Venice and at one point, even looking up at the balcony of Juliet in Verona. The tour peaked with their stay in Lucerne, Switzerland. The majestic Alps captivated everyone on tour. To end their tour, the students squeezed in a lunch stop in Colmar, France. Why not experience an extra country during a trip of a lifetime?!? In an unexpected twist this year, during their journey home, the students also toured Toronto, Canada. With a less than desirable 9-hour layover, they truly made the most of an unpleasant situation.
Costa Rica Trip Recap
23 CASH students traveled to Costa Rica form April 8 -18. The trip included many excursions that included hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, snorkeling, white water rafting and zip lining. Students were able to use their Spanish speaking skills learned at CASH in an effort to continue to hone their accents. Pura Vida!
JUNIOR CLASS MEETING HELD FOR CADY SENIOR PORTRAIT PROCESS
CASH hosted a Junior Class Meeting last Tuesday, April 15 so that our school photographer, CADY, could provide information to students about the upcoming SENIOR PORTRAITS. A follow up email was sent outlining the process and all information related to SENIOR PORTRAITS for the class of 2026 to all junior families on Wednesday, April 16. These resources are also provided below as a reference and sent out to junior on our CANVAS announcement hub. Senior Portraits for the class of 2026 are coming soon, so please do not delay in booking an appointment for one of the several dates at CASH or for an appoint at the CADY studios!
The Class of 2025 had the MOST students travel to the CADY Studios for their senior portraits than in recent years. CASH Principal, Mr. Chenger, also took the trip to the studio last month to see it first hand and was impressed with the facility and the offerings.
