Falon Rainer

Falon Rainer, a 2007 graduate, began her passion for activism during her days in the Coatesville Area School District. As a high school student Falon served as Senior Class President, was a member of the Student Council and the Class Cabinet, as well as the InterAct Club and the Society of Progressors. Her artistic endeavors included the Paint and Patch Club, Gospel Choir, and the Meistersingers. Athletically, Falon was a member of the Track and Volleyball teams. There was never a doubt that she would make a profound impact on any educational institution or organization that she joined.

Following her graduation from Coatesville, Falon attended The Ohio State University, graduating with Magna Cum Laude distinction in 2012 earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminology, as well as a minor in African-American and African Studies. While attending Ohio State University, Falon served as a University Ambassador from 2010-2012. In 2011 through 2012 she was an operations intern for the Ohio State Bar Foundation and served as the Ohio State Campus Campaign Coordinator for “Teach for America.” Falon received the Edward “Beanie” S. Drake Scholarship, a student leadership endowment from 2008 through 2010.

Currently, Falon is a kindergarten teacher at PAVE Academy Charter School in Brooklyn, New York and is a Teach for America Corps member. During the winter of 2012 and the summer of 2013 she served as an international teacher/volunteer at the Happy Kids Orphanage in Hohoe, Ghana.

Falon shared the following comments on the impact of the Coatesville Area School District on her success: My time spent in the Coatesville Area School District set me up for success in many different ways. As a Coatesville graduate, I was accustomed to interacting with many groups of people from various backgrounds and upbringings. This has enabled me to be comfortable in working with different people; whether as a college student in Ohio, a teacher working in Brooklyn or an international volunteer living in a rural orphanage in Ghana. My work both in the classroom and in extracurriculars left me with a variety of career and life skills and a world of opportunities. I am very proud to be an alumna of the Coatesville Area School District, class of 2007.
