Charles Ruffing, a 1975 graduate of the Coatesville Area School District, currently serves as Vice President of Health Safety and Environment for the Eastman Kodak Company where he is responsible for the safety of workers and products, as well as environmental compliance at all Kodak facilities worldwide. Previously, Dr. Ruffing was employed by the Aldrich Chemical Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1987-1992.

Earning the Lukens Scholarship while at Coatesville, Dr. Ruffing matriculated to Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, graduating with honors in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Continuing his education, Ruffing attended the University of Illinois, obtaining his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Inorganic Chemistry in 1984.

Dr. Ruffing shared the following comments regarding the impact the Coatesville Area School District had on his success: Coatesville Area School District gave me an excellent start in my career. Engaged, caring teachers kindled an enthusiasm for learning that followed me throughout my life. In high school, the ability to test myself with demanding classes in science and math allowed me to be well prepared for my chemistry education. I also believe that the interactions with the diversity of students, coaches and educators in the district helped form me as a person who sees other’s point of view, and values different perspectives in decision making, which has been invaluable to me in my work life.
