Apply to Become a Part of the Comprehensive Planning Team

Comprehensive Planning is a process that is mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The process can be instrumental in facilitating communication and collaboration. The comprehensive planning process provides an opportunity to promote shared practices and resources and ensures that stakeholders are working toward common goals. Additionally, Comprehensive Planning provides a means by which local education agencies (school districts, charter schools, area vocational technical schools/career and technical centers, and intermediate units) can create and manage a continuous, comprehensive plan that can submitted to the Department of Education in order to maintain compliance with state and federal mandates.

The Coatesville Area School District is in the process of revising the Comprehensive plan and the Board of Directors are seeking participation from persons in the community. The Comprehensive planning team will be comprised of teachers, administrators, local business representatives and community The Board will appoint 2 people from each of the following categories:

  • 2 Local Business Owners
  • 2 Parents of Children in the School District
  • 2 Community Representatives

The Comprehensive Planning Team will meet 5-6 times during the 18-19 school year. Meetings will be approximately 2 hours long and will be held at the District Office located at: 3030 CG Zinn Rd. Thorndale, Pa. 19372. In an effort to ensure participation from parents, local business and community members, the meetings will be held during evening hours.

Persons interested in being appointed by the Board of School Directors should fill out the application form.  To access the form click here.. The form should be emailed to Karen Jackson, who serves as a recording secretary to the Board of Directors. All submissions shall be electronic. Applications will be accepted from October 9, 2018 through the close of business (5 p.m.) on October 19, 2018.   The deadline has been extended for two additional weeks through November 2, 2018 COB (5 p.m.)
