Schools to be reopen at regular times this Tuesday, September 7

Dear Coatesville Area School District,

I am very pleased to report that we are expecting our schools to be reopen at regular times this Tuesday, September 7. There may still be some bus delays as we work through new school year schedules.

The Red Cross has closed its shelter at our high school, and we are thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing the spaces used so they will be ready for students and staff on Tuesday. Krapf Bus reports that its drivers and buses will also be ready and that any bus repairs or parking lots cleanup needed as a result of flooding will be completed by Monday night.

If your child has been displaced as a result of the flooding, we ask that you please contact your school principal as soon as possible to let them know so that we can be prepared to provide support.

The District and School Board would like to thank our entire community for the outpouring of help for Coatesville flood victims. From arranging the opening of the Benner building as a central donation collection and volunteer meeting site, to the innumerable other ways people helped, the effort was truly incredible. Thank you to our community organizations which are so vital in getting this work done, to our School Board, administrative team, and to every parent, student, and community member who contributed. Whether you donated supplies, helped to clean out homes, supported grassroots funding efforts, or worked behind the scenes, your contribution is appreciated. It is clear that we all care very deeply for this community and support our community in a wide variety of meaningful ways.

We look forward to seeing our students on Tuesday.

Sincerely,

Tomás Hanna

Superintendent
