Hello! My name is Karen Close, and I am the new 7th grade Language Arts for South Brandywine Middle School.  I am so excited to be here and to get to know you and your student.

My husband and I are originally from Pennsylvania (both Penn State alums!), but lived for 16 years just north of Dallas, TX from 2001 to 2017. While in Texas, I decided to change careers and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Texas Woman's University. From 2013 to 2017, I taught 7th grade Language Arts in Frisco, TX and loved it! Teaching students to become stronger readers and writers is my passion.

We have two amazing daughters; one is a sophomore at Penn State and the younger one is a freshman in high school. We are so happy to be back home in Pennsylvania! Besides spending time with my family, I love reading (especially historical fiction, memoirs, and nonfiction) and sewing.
