January's Student of the Month goes to Gissela Lopez-Suaro. Gissela was in the top five for R.O.C.K.s received. She was also recommended by Mrs. Lisa Barnes. She wore, "Gissela Lopez-Suaro is my recommendation for student of the month. I am lucky to have Gissela everyday period 5 for both Health and Yoga. She is a HUGE leader of good behavior, hard work and kindness. It has been my pleasure to have her in my class each day!"

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month, Dr. Douglas. Dr. Douglas is our English as a Second Language Teacher. She is always willing to go above and beyond with assisting with her students and school needs. At the onset of this year (January), she has worked tirelessly on getting our school WIDA test done for our ELL population. She advocates for all students and she makes everyone feel comfortable within the school.

This Spring we are running and afterschool STEM Program. Interested students should contact Mrs. Fidanza in Room 318 for an application.

We will be returning with the afterschool STEM program for FIRST TIME 8th & 9th grade students. This program will provide students with opportunities to explore Computer Science & STEM careers and learn work ready skills. Highlights of the program include:

• Introduction to Coding
• Introduction to Entrepreneurship
• Robotics
• Cybersecurity
• Forensics
• Earning industry certificates and up to $75 in gift cards

Simultaneously, we will be running the afterschool Healthcare program. There will be 2 Healthcare Programs: Level 1 and Level 3.

Level 1 program is for FIRST TIME 8th & 9th grade students and will provide students with opportunities to explore Healthcare careers and learn work ready skills. Highlights of the program include:

• Introduction to stethoscope and its use & blood pressure
• Nutrition/Mental Health
• Financial Literacy
• Attending field trips and surgeries
• Wound Care & Suturing
• Earning industry certificates and up to $75 in gift cards

CCA will be held March 14, 2023 – May 9, 2023 on Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30pm.
