Student of the Month Josh Stringer

Congratulations to Josh Stringer our Student of the Month. Below are some of the teacher recommendations for Josh.

Here is what his teachers had to say about him:

Mrs. Bird

Josh Stringer is in my advisory and is always the first student in our classroom. He helps set up the supplies for the day and sharpens the pencils. He works well with other students and responds well to negativity from other classmates. He is always kind, helpful, and respectful of everyone in the classroom. He is more than well-deserving of student of the month!

Ms. Perri

I nominate Josh Stringer as student of the month. He is respectful, kind to all staff and peers. He has consistently done what he needs to do all year long. He’s an excellent student and a joy to have in class!!!

Dr. Dantzler:

I'd like to nominate Josh Stringer. This young man has a number of challenges outside of school. Despite these obstacles, he attends school and does his best and he is generally a nice kid. Students like him are often overlooked because he doesn't cause problems on a daily basis. This would mean the world to him.

Mr. Warren

I can back Josh Stringer as well. He is always pleasant and polite. He works hard in class as well.

Mrs. Glass, Mrs. Hamilton, and Mrs. Renshaw all voted in favor of Josh.

Congratulations Josh for being our April's Student of the Month.

Employee of the Month Mr. Sherrer

It is about that time to recognize our faculty member of the month. Last month's winner was nominated by several employees. This individual is always pleasant and will do whatever is asked to get the job done. He goes well and above for our staff and students here at the Intermediate HS. His warm demeanor and hard worker do not go unnoticed. Here is a what a staff member said about him:

Mr. Sherrer is such a great person to work with! He's very helpful and hard-working. He has such a positive attitude and is always willing to jump in and help whenever we need something. An example is this past Friday during the Teacher's appreciation luncheon. He unloaded the car for the parent, helped set up (finding bowls for food and keeping the extra food in the refrigerator) and took care of cleaning up the leftovers/trash. The entire time he was also keeping the cafeteria clean during lunches. He did it all with a wonderful attitude and continuously commented about how it was nothing. Amos truly is a delight to work with every day!

The faculty member of the month of April is Charles "Amos" Sherrer!

Summer School for 9th Grade Students

If your student will not earn the minimum of 5.5 credits for the school year they will need to attend summer school in order to be promoted to 10th grade. In addition, if they have failed a major course they will also need to attend summer school to make up that class because of graduation requirements. Early warning letters were sent out after the 3rd marking period to notify you if your student was in danger of failing a course. Please review Home Access for your student's grades.

Just a reminder that Summer School Registration will begin on June 1st. Please see the attachment for details about the Summer School Program. Students are required to attend daily in person for all scheduled sessions. The cost per course is $100.00 dollars. There is a 3 course limit for students. Summer school registration payments will be accepted on line through Rev-Trak. The application form which is attached needs to be completed and returned to the school.

Your child's guidance counselor can assist with any questions that you may have about summer school qualifications.

Summer School for 8th Grade Students

For students who have failed 2 or more core classes or 1 core subject and 2 special subjects in 8th Grade students will be required to attend summer school in order to be promoted to 9th grade. Summer school will be held at Scott Middle School and transportation will be provided. At the end of the the Third Marking Period average letters were sent out from our Guidance Department to all students who were in danger of failing.
