Picture ID's and Lynards

The majority of students have received their School ID's. We are requiring the students to wear them each and everyday and for them to be visible. We have provided lynards to each student so they can be worn around their neck. This will allow for us to identify the students as they move around the school. It also speeds up the lunch line as they are able to scan the ID's and move quickly through the line. Starting tomorrow we will have the students who have their ID's on to go through the lunch line first. We are also in the process of printing new ID cards so that we can identify by color what students should be in lunch. If your student does not have an ID card we are in the process of setting up the ID card maker.

Shout Out Opportunity

To foster and help with creating a positive school climate and culture, we have created the “Intermediate Shout Out.” This initiative is based on students, faculty, parents/guardians to publicly acknowledge over the Pa system for good works done here at the school, which relate to PBIS. All one has to do is fill out the google form website, provide your name, the person who you are shouting, and the reason for the shout out.

Attendance and Retention Policy

As the 2022-2023 school year is now here, there have been recent updates regarding the school district’s policies on attendance and retention. The full policies are on the CASD’s website’s tab, “School Board.” Here are some notable parts of the policies:

  • If a student misses 18 days of school and/or 9 days in a semester, and/or misses the same class 18 times, and/or is habitually late to school, he/she will be required to have a School Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP) meeting. From the meeting, the team will discuss the student’s attendance and make a potential recommendation for retention or being held back.

  • In order to receive credit, a student must attend 90% of his/her class days.

  • If a student misses more than 10 lawful or unlawful absences, requires an excuse from a licensed practitioner of the healing arts or medical doctor.

  • A student can be retained for failing to show academic achievement for promotion.

  • Retention or being held back shall only be considered for the worst-case scenarios and parents/guardians will be notified and a part of the process.

CAIHS families, should you have any questions, please reach out to CAIHS’s administration.
