    8901 WELLNESS AND FITNESS 0.5 Credit Grade 9
    8903 WELLNESS AND FITNESS 0.5 Credit Grade 10

    9903 WELLNESS AND FITNESS 0.5 Credit Grade 12
    Wellness and Fitness will provide students an opportunity to develop and maintain healthy behaviors through participation in both health and physical education. Health education in the classroom will assist students in the examination of their lifestyles and provide them with the tools to select goals and make plans to achieve a lifetime of healthy behaviors. Physical education will provide students an opportunity to participate in a variety of individual and team activities including swimming. These activities will help develop and improve their level of physical and mental fitness as well as their social and emotional well-being. In swimming, students learn basic strokes and water safety techniques while learning to implement these skills through lifetime fitness and water sport activities. All students are required to take these courses unless they are excused due to documented medical and/or physical reasons.

    8905 ADAPTIVE WELLNESS AND FITNESS 0.5 Credit Grades 9-10
    9905 ADAPTIVE WELLNESS AND FITNESS 0.5 Credit Grades 11-12
    (prerequisite: teacher recommendation)
    This course is a diversified class for students with disabilities who may not safely or successfully engage in unrestricted participation in regular physical education classes.

    8915 STRENGTH TRAINING 0.5 Credit Grades 9-10
    9915 STRENGTH TRAINING 0.5 Credit Grades 11-12
    Strength training will provide students with the opportunity to develop muscular strength, coordination, endurance and flexibility. The course will offer students the tools to achieve a lifetime of healthy behaviors.

    9917 ADVANCED STRENGTH TRAINING 0.5 Credit Grades 11-12
    (prerequisite: Strength Training)
    This course is a follow-up to the basic Strength Training course and will continue the development of muscular strength, coordination, endurance and flexibility.

    8911 AEROBICS 0.5 Credit Grades 9-10
    Aerobic education provides the opportunity for each individual to discover and understand the body and how it functions; to realize the potential of his or her physical capabilities. The combination of instruction and participation in aerobic dance, speed walking, and weight training results in experiences in which social, intellectual, cultural, and emotional understandings are developed.

    9913 SPORTS MEDICINE 0.5 Credit Grades 11-12
    This course teaches students the basic skills involved in preventing, evaluating, treating and rehabilitating sports-related injuries. This course provides the opportunity for hands-on learning experiences and is therefore designed for students interested in health care professions such as Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Orthopedic Medicine, etc. It is recommended that students have previous knowledge of first aid and CPR.

    9914 ADVANCED SPORTS MEDICINE 0.5 Credit Grades 11-12
    (prerequisite: Sports Medicine)
    This course is a continuation of Sports Medicine. Advanced ideas, vocabulary, and treatments will be presented in this course.

    9907 LIFE GUARDING 0.5 Credit Grades 11-12
    (prerequisite: must pass a skills test consisting of 20 laps, freestyle, breaststroke, and retrieve a 10-pound brick in 9 feet of water)
    To enroll in this life guarding class, you must be at least 15 years of age and be a strong swimmer. Students must pass the skills test described above. Students are responsible to purchase necessary materials which cost from $100 to $125. Upon completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course, you will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate. Along with the Lifeguard Training certificate, you will also receive a certificate in CPR for the Professional Rescuer which is valid for one (1) year. Preventing Disease Transmission certification and AED certification are both valid for one year.
